Is there a thread for vegetable chat?

No, but I've had to listen to plenty of chat from vegetables.

(lol, sorry, I couldn't resist, it was too perfect of a set up)

Peppers, eggplants and tomatoes will tolerate the same soil conditions. Im organic so plenty of well aged compost, about a 2-3 inch layer that s tilled into the soil each year, will keep most plants happy in the garden. The addition of a dry all purpose fertilizer and a source of Calcium will further improve you harvests. (calcium/gypsum will help prevent blossom end rot and poor fruiting)

Like kb said, MJ and Tomatoes like the same general nutrients and have a similar nute uptake. So what grow your pot plants in will likely work for your maters

I use 1 part Peat Moss, 1 part Perlite and 1 part Compost for potted plants.

Just make sure it has plenty of organic matter, drains well and has a ph of 6.5 to 7 for peppers and tomatoes. Eggplant will appreciate a slighty more acidic soil, 6 to 7 is fine.

Give me a shout if you need anything else. I love growing maters.

I run a vegetable garden every year. My standards are tomatoes, peppers, and culinary herbs. I also grow Bananas and taro, but as ornamentals not edibles.

If you're growing in the ground, just amend your soil with some good compost and plant away.

If you're growing in containers, don't use dirt from your yard. I know it sounds contradictory, but it's not. A bucket of dirt will heat up way more than the ground will, and will result in dead soil organisms.

For container planting of food crops I always mix 1/3 each of Peat moss, Perlite, and Worm Castings (a good quality cow manure works as well). For watering I always use a diluted compost tea, 16:1. Rain water's best.
