how to single solvent dewax for super tasty glass "shatter"; for experienced extractors only.
you will need; jars to blast into, Buchner funnel/way to filter contaminants out of solvent with multiple unbleached coffee filters, about 10lb dry ice (1 block) and basic extraction gear. ( a Buchner funnel is a vacuum assisted lab equipment funnel)
freeze jars to blast into, (freeze butane and packed tube if you want also) blast directly into jars. store with dry ice(outside in cooler) (should get below -40f) for 36-48 hours. you will notice separation.
a few hours before its done and youre ready to filter; freeze buchner funnel/filter setup and filters.
after that, setup your filter system in the dry ice box and prepare to pour the jars of super frozen bho through your filter.
filter the liquid bho, you will notice how disgusting the stuff that sticks to the jar/stuff that's filtered out looks like. truly gross.
(if using a Buchner funnel, never use your vac pump, get your chamber to max hg and use it as a vac for the Buchner funnel)
now pour the beautiful, now clear, gold liquid into your pyrex and let it evap, put in vacuum chamber and slowly get the temp up to around 100, no higher than 105, for about 72 hours. (96 hours is the most ive ever heard of lol) flip the slab every 24 hours.

boom you got cup winning shatter. you can also make dewaxed wax doing the same thing just higher temps (about 115-125)

I agree doing a winterizing with alcohol removes many of the terpens that a Buchner filter will leave in place. De waxing and removing lipids will definitely improve the taste and quality of shatter. It will definitely help with the physical structure of the BHO by making a clearer shatter. However, I don't know how it holds up to CO2 extracted hash oil. Butane is a solvent and extracts a number chemicals that a Supercritical fluid extraction does not. Co2 extraction is based on the temperature being very cold and the pressure of the gas enough to strip the trichomes from the plant material. While butane also does this, it extracts other chemicals as well because it is a good solvent as well.

(should get -30) not below -40 lol. cannabinoids precipitate somewhere below -50.
co2 doesn't pull terpenes nearly as well as butane. theres a lot of reasons why co2 extracts are 2nd rate.

Have you ever tried N-Tane in place of the B-Tane?

yes. pure n butane as it comes doesn't extract everything as well as a mix of n butane, iso butane, and propane, like whats in good canned brands. ive heard of peoples attempts at making their own solvent mix, nothing good.

friend of mine had some CO2 extracted shatter.
I asked him why it was green? His answer was from the plant matter.

There is plant matter when using CO2? or did someone do it wrong?
