I ordered a 100x loupe from plantlightinghydroponics and unless I can't use it right. it sux. The led light flickers on and off. Its hard to see the tricons. should i have bought a less of a zoom? any advice?

You shake to much or what? And why is the light flickering,,is it loose or something? I do not hold my Microscope when checking Trichs cause its hard to hold still.He he.

I use the Radio Shack microscope as well. I personally think that 100x is a little too powerful--you really don't need that much magnification (and it's really creepy if you have spider mites). Like mentioned above, you pretty much need to clip a leaf and put it on a solid surface for it to be steady enough to see what you need. The light should not be flickering though.

I got a USB digi for a friend a while back--I think it was a different brand than eyeclops, but really similar. He really likes it.

i use a 40x jewlers loupe from ebay, $4.

wow i can still hold the cheapy still to see the trichs...maybe should drink more coffee or somptin

I use this 30x...super clear, adjustable focus, super bright because of the clear housing

I tried several brands of loupes and pocket microscopes. I couldn't use any of them properly. Partly due to my shaking, and partly due to my eyes.

A few years ago, I had a nice grow of AK47 (flowering time 7-9 weeks). I prefer to harvest at about 10-20% amber trichs. But at 10 weeks, with a 40x jewelers loupe, I could not detect any amber trichs. So I borrowed a friend's digital (USB) microscope, and it showed over 50% amber trichs. It's all I use now.

I keep doing something wrong when I go to check trichomes on the buds. I clip off a small chunk of curing bud and place it in the bowl and then light it up with a nice flame and hold it near the bud. But then it gets all smoky and I have to suck in the smoke so that I can see what I am doing. By the time I get all of the smoke out of the way the bud is nothing but ash, the trichomes are all gone and I can't see straight anymore.
