for 1 reason or another---many of you/me/us have extra equipment lying around---is it realistic to think we could safely set up a barter or $ exchange to get rid of some growing equipment at garage sale prices

trick is in the shipping

confidentiality goes out the window once you give out your home address

other than that I'm all about a good deal on lightly used stuff

A ballast & cords will fit in a medium sized USPS flat rate box that ships, no matter how heavy, in the US for $25. That's affordable. The large box will hold 2 ballasts, cords & bulbs for $44. Hoods and things of that nature would be another story, they won't fit in those boxes. If you're tight on cash, cheaper to pay someone $25 to ship you a gift that buy the whole system.

But, I don't think a public site is the place to do it. Anyone can join here, I'd be concerned about people who don't keep up their end of the deal.

I think the point was to be able to help out MC. Not so much for the money or selling part. I like the idea. Unfortuneately not everyone is in legal states. Maybe it would be ok if you are in a legal state.

I'm not going to go thru the headaches that go with a trading site. If member want to trade anything they can do it in private.
