My Newest Super Soil Recipe

I'm using a new Super Soil recipe I recently found on another web site. I just transplanted plants into it and the plants love it. I'm using 10-gallon smart pots at the end of vegging and thru flowering. It sure is nice watering with plain tap water all the way thru flowering, and never having to adjust PH. I'm using no additives whatsoever.

Most of the ingredients are certified organic (OMRI). I love organic grows. Here's the recipe:

2 large bags Roots Organic soil
20 lbs Earthworm castings
1 kg organic rice hulls
420g Fish bone meal (Down to Earth 3-16-0)
420g Bat guano (Happy Frog 0-5-0)
420g Blood meal (Down to Earth 12-0-0)
100g Neem seed meal (Down to Earth)
80g Potassium sulfate (0-0-50)
200g Ancient Forest Alaska Humus (General Organics)
200g Xtreme mycorrhizal granules
200g Azomite
100g Sea kelp (Algamin 1-0-2)
70g Dolomite lime (30% cal 3% mg, or 75/12)
50g Alfalfa meal (Down to Earth 2.5-1-1)
20g Humic acid powder (Down to Earth)
8g Epsom salt

I'll check my Amazon ordering history and try to come up with an estimate. I got most of the ingredients there with my Amazon Prime 2-day shipping.

I got the the Roots Organic base soil, the Earthworm Castings, and lime from a local garden shop.

I'll try to post an estimate tonight.

Best of luck. I have yet to see a "super soil" mix that did as advertised. Every one has needed additional feeding mid-way through. Who knows, maybe you found the real deal, I'll be watching as well.

Cool. Can you post up your recipe? Have you ever used it outdoors? I've been looking for a working super soil for a while.

@Cubby
No I haven't tried it od yet. Hoping to this coming spring though.
I will most likely be revising it some. But here she is.
All amendments are to 1 cuft of medium
Kelp meal 1/2-3/4 c
Bone meal 1-1.25 c
Blood meal 1/2-3/4 c
Green sand 1/2 c
Worm castings 7-10L
Dol lime 1-1.25 c
Glacier rock dust 1/2 c
High N guano 1/2 c
High p guano 1/2 c
Mycro and Bennie (GH product )
Crushed up hydroton in place of perlite
Coco (as coarse as I could find) 1.5 cuft
Promix hp 2 cuft
Sea soil 1.5 cuft

Next batch adding alfalfa meal/fish bone meal/Epsom/humus
Recycling this "promix" and only adding composts into medium.
Then the batch after no pro mix at all just composts n "peat moss" to bring up acidity.

LH.

Looks good LH. I'll give it a try in the spring.
I have everything on your list, except the bone and blood meals. Have you ever tried composted, screened, leaf mold?
It's great, just mix it with a little peat moss, and vermi-compost and it makes an excellent base to add the rest of your amendments.

My first Super Soil mix died about two-thirds thru flowering (it was due to a cal/mag deficiency in Subcool's original recipe).

Since then, I've used a modified version with good results. All my subsequent Super Soil grows have made it thru flowering with no feeding of any kind, and no deficiencies of any kind. Tap water only.

One really good thing (I think) about my recipe is the organic rice hulls. The hulls serve 2 purposes:

1. They provide the "airiness and drainage" that perlite does, without having to use perlite.

2. They provide natural silicon, which strengthens the plants' immunity to disease.

I've never seen plants respond so positively to any feeding style (I've never done full-blown hydro though). As soon as I transplant (healthy) plants from pure Roots Organic into my Super Soil, they turn the darkest green and reach for the sky.

But I've done chemical grows that turned out very nicely as well.
