Might be to warm, is your t5 fixture cooled with a fan? My t5 6 bulb fixture with only 4 bulbs turned on, the surface temp is 86 degrees at the hottest point and it has only been on for 1 hour in a 65 degree room.

Mine don't whilt........ give them a mist of water with a squirt bottle........... and make sure your rooting plugs are good and moist........ I use jiffy pucks....... let them soak up all the water they want before putting a clone in it......... but I don't have my pucks sitting in water after placing them in the dome.

I am using rapid rooters. I can dump the water out if its not supposed to sit in there. I thought it might help with the condensation.

Mist spray the lid for added humidity.

Rapid rooters say to pour 1/2 cup water in the tray every 3 days....I would say the wilt is from over heat

Mine never wilt over like that. You may have gotten n air embolism if they wilted over that quickly.

Umbra, it is and has been my understanding that clones need very very little light to root. So, why is it better to use 2 CFLs to root with?

Let me rephrase what I said about the wilting. One wilted over, but I think it was because I forgot to trim the big leafs up and it was too heavy to stand up. I fixed it before I went to bed and when I woke up, it is standing up on its own now.

That is good news, that 140 is the temp of the surface of bulb not the temp above fixture. My temp above fixture is low 80's.

When should I expect to see roots? Will it hurt to pull the rapid rooter plug out before it shows roots through the ttray? or will it even show roots through the tray?

In the future, you may want to take a look at air cloning. I've recently been shown how to do it and it sure is a space safer.

I lost my camera or I'd toss up a few pics of one's I'm doing now. I've rooted 2 cuts in the last 2 weeks out of 3 started in this manner.

Here's a nice instructional video on how to do it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4oMjYLctVs

when you choose the clones your keeping, do you go by what the roots look like through the rapid rooters or do you actually plant them and see which ones your want to keep?

i cut 4 and keep 2. I just transplanted them into the 1 gallon smart pot. I tossed the 2 that didn't have much root. Can you re use the rapid rooters?

I wouldn't reuse the rapid rooter. IMO if you didn't keep the clones that were in the rooters, there is no reason to keep the rooters.
