my what???!

Urban Dictionary:
chingadera 
A wonderfully suggestive word for "thing". Safe to use at work or in the bedroom.

ok got it.

--------------------

its basically a tubular shaped USB webcam that can focus in really REALLY close... and comes with a stand.
oh, and there is a knob and button spliced into the cord; knob dims LED lights built-in around the cam lens
and button triggers the "screen shot" / picture capture
it came with some very basic software you just run (don't even need to install, just C/P, click)

saves in .bmp one needs to convert to .jpg to post them

Well I got the warranty replacement LED "chip" today

(w00t for Saturday USPS delivery ... worth EVERY penny :P NOT!!! )

I'm thinking this is not factory new but it works fine and otherwise looks PERFECT.
I bet it was pulled out of a damaged in shipment / returned unit.

the mystery is solved: (why such a bad heatsink mount)

three of the 4 holes were stripped (threads in aluminum) for the mounting screws.
(quick-thinking) they grabbed the outer box screws that are the same thread and about 3 times longer

sure they caught fresh thread but they bottomed out before they put any real pressure on the plate :-/
(that's my makeshift washer/nut)

this thing has a paper thin field of focus

painted in a little on the bottom of the hole. its too far out of focus to see well

two weeks
exactly I've been running @ 50% LED :(

I think I'm going to try to keep the CFL running even though it will now be paired with 100% LED
air temps weren't bad at all, as long as it doesn't overheat, I can't see how it could hurt the grow.

It's just been such a kick-n-the-nards, of the total 28 days of flower the first 14 were full power, next 14 this jerry-rigged mix.

IDK I guess I'm just getting ALL the bugs worked out with this bag-seed run and there were simply more than I anticipated.

and the evolution continues...

after the first week+ of little to -0- Warranty response, I ordered my own replacement "parts"

now I've got the (free) Warranty replacement part, installed and working AND a 100w Sol1
(basically 1/2 of all the parts in the 2... same PSUs and LED "chips" etc)

gee, I wonder, what in the heavens will I ever do with THAT?!

So now its 300w of LED goodness blazing down on BS-1 and less heat than the CFL.
(78 w/ft2 based off draw stat from spec sheet)

not quite as cool pictures but O-well

PS/EDIT
yes, (Warranty be damned) the first thing I did was check the heatsink mount and replace the TIM.
acceptable but still some room for improvement. ;)

ya, the chain is getting ridicules @ this point
thing is, I can easily remove 1/2 of it as the lights will NEVER be 14" off the floor
I just have to "do-eat"

MR1,
yes I have 1 fan blowing UP under her skirt and one blowing down/around her top
I've removed almost all leafs other than what's in the (approximately) 5" thick canopy.

the INlet of the whole cabinet is below the canopy so I KNOW all the air that moves through the cabinet
is moving through the canopy.

I still wish I had more space for a nice 10" oscillating fan but unless its suspended from the top, there is no easy way.

LOL
just a quick update on the warranty... I received a(nother) LED chip/array today in the mail.
yes, that makes 2 replacement parts :D

so now I have a replacement "bulb" if another one goes bad
I'm not going to question it just accept the part, smile and nod.

should I be feeding more?

I've noticed a lot of "nute-burn" leaf tips in many bud-porn shots...

then I look @ mine and see no sign of browning.

nute: (5.5ph) 700+ppm
GH flora (1-2-3 bloom), Floralicous+ , Nectar, KoolBloom

That is not necessarily nute burn, leaves will do that late in flowering as the leaves energy gets used up the leaf tips dry up and turn brown.

I need some advice

what's the absolute soonest "you" would harvest?

I'm only 40 days into 12/12 but I will NEED the space for another plant that is very soon (3-7 days) going to outgrow my VEG space

I'm all about a "head high" so -0- amber trichomes is fine with me but if another "week" might add 25% to yield I could TRY to be more creative as to just how long I force IC to stay over in VEG.

thanks McFam

extreme thought:

what if I cut clones off IC and then kill her?

that would off-set this timing issue and let BS-1 fully develop

seems like such a waste

IDK

I need ideas though, because this can't go on longer than another week (or less):
but only 47 days of flower seems like a waste too

my two cents... hack whatever is in veg to get more time..by hack i mean top twist tie cut whatever it takes....
you cant come down at 40 days or 47 either...just gonna make a mistake if you do...so adjust veg...it will regrow whatever you havee to do to it to get the girl finished proper....once again just my two cents

well, I smacked her down about as hard as I felt comfortable doing. Even pinched but didn't bend the broken stem.
And I took 2 hours of light away (now @ 17/7)

I'll just hold off as long as possible....

(brought the BIG gun, Rebel T2i, down to see just how close it can get)

not bad

might i ask why your veggin with something other then 24/0 MJ doesnt need a dark period to veg all your going to do is increase stretch which is kinda counter productive considering your space...

a bit of 2 reasons:

1) I'm a n00b (old/mis-information)
2) I knew this plant was going to be ready to get out of VEG sooner than flower was going to be empty so I thought that might slow her down a bit... didn't know about the stretch side-effect

@ this point is it worth changing to 24/7?
hasn't the worst of the damage already been done (stretch)

[mental note: VEG = 24/7.. NEXT time]

SOB!!! i just had everything typed out and hit the wrong button >_< ok so lets try this again lol... if i were you id swap the light timing to 24/0 now, better to get used to it now then let the plant have more stretch time. also i would get some twist ties or pipe cleaners and tie down just about every branch attempting to lower the canopy about 4 inches or so, that way theres room for it to grow over the next 3 or 4 weeks as the flowering plant finishes up, with that said i would also top all of the larger branches, this will also help stunt the vertical growth for a few weeks as the plant repairs damage, as well as increasing the amount of tops (colas) you have thus increasing yield a bit... i think we all have been in the same place your at now, full flower space and an overgrown veg space, just gotta do some LST, tie them suckers down and top branches, just make sure you give it at least 2 weeks to recover from the toppings before you move it into flower. also looks like that vegging gal could use a little skirt trim if you will... looks like her underside could get cleaned up a bit, looks a tad over crowded under that canopy... just some food for thought...

will FIM-ing all the top branches work instead of TOP-ing?

I think X2 of what I already have might be too much (too crowded) for my small flower space

and the main branches were just getting going after a TOP when I broke one of the twin stems
I just cant see topping again so soon or topping a still recovering broken branch

love the input!!

a fim is the same as a top, except in a slightly different place, topping removes the entire set of new growth giving 2 new main stems, with a fim you remove the top ~60% of the set of new growth which can give more then 2 new main stems, sometimes upwards of 8+ depending on strain and such... so a fim will actually make it bushier in the long run then topping. basically the reasoning for the topping is to decrease its height. if you know your gonna have another month + you can cut the branches down further then a regular top, taking off a few sets of nodes rather then just the new growth, its going to give more tops but with more head room to work with its totaly managable, iv done it a few times and had great results, nothing says you cant trim up a bushy plant to fit the space better, hell we all do it.
