I find it interesting that Sensi Seeds will not replace un-germinated seeds unless you say you started them in a paper towel. When I read that I could't believe how wrong it was that a classic company like Sensi would recommend, even demand, that seed be started this way.

I soak each seed in their own shot glass till they shoot tails, prep nurse pots then just pour the pregermed seed into their pots. No touching, no paper towel and ez pz lemon squeezee...

works everytime....

Said it before, I'll say it again. If seeds were meant to be started in paper towels then the earth would be made of them and not dirt.

I used to use the paper towel method but I decided to go the full "nature's way" route for seeds planted outside. I eat some beans and salad, then swallow several seeds, then dig my holes for planting. Then the next day I take a dump in the holes and cover them up with dirt. When the seeds sprout and begin to grow, they have lots of nitrogen to get started

started out with paper towel method. but soon as i tried the cup of water method, been using that since. as someone who value's knowing for sure which are going to germ, over doing it nature's way, it's by far the easiest. put it in the water, then put it in the medium.

I just germed around 100 beans. Threw them all in cups of water, each labeled of course. All of them popped, and were transplanted into cups of promix, about 2-3 inches deep. All have since spung thru and are rocking the first sets of leaves. First time I just put them into water, and it worked well, real well.

I've done the paper towel method for several years, and it worked well. But I have managed to damage 2 or 3 rootlets over the years when trying to plant them in soil using tweezers. I killed a $25 seed a couple months ago...

Next grow I'm going to soak seeds in water for 16 hours, and then plant directly into Sunshine Mix #4. I'd kinda like to eliminate the paper towel step just in the interest of making things simpler.

I like the paper towel method combined with the cd case. I get to see the tap roots emerge, prepare the number of cups needed and plant when ready. I don't like wondering if the beans are germinating when I just plant them in soil. I get almost 100% success. When dealing with tough shells, if I don't see any signs of life after two days, I crack them with tweezers. Whatever works for you is the best method.

I think the thing that matters most in germination (other than not mishandling them) is genetics. When I get seeds from a reputable breeder, I get great germination rates, regardless of the germination method. And when I (used to) order from upstart breeders, I got lesser germination rates.

Just IMHO...
